SP Page Builder v6.9.0: Multilingual Support for Dynamic Content Pages, Page Lock Indicator, & More

And just like that, it’s update o’clock! 

We’re back with another fresh release of your favorite page builder. This version brings some exciting additions, including video support for the Gallery addon and changelog support for SP Page Builder Pro, along with several improvements and fixes to make everything work even better. Here's what's new:

SP Page Builder v6.9.0 Changelog:

• New: Page lock indicator now shows who locked an SP Page Builder page, with the lock date and time on hover, matching Joomla's native behavior.

Build Multilingual Dynamic Details and Index Pages

Building multilingual Joomla websites just got easier with multilingual support for Details and Index pages.

With this update, you can create a separate language version of a Details or Index page directly from Page Settings > Basic > Language. Simply select the language you want to assign to the page and save it. SP Page Builder will create a new version of that page for the selected language. You can create 

For example, if your original page is set to English and you assign French as another language, a new French version of the page will be created. You can then edit and change the French version, while the English version remains unchanged.

You can create one separate version for each language your website supports. So, if your website has English, French, German, and Spanish, you can create and manage a dedicated version of the page for each language, all within SP Page Builder.

Purge Unused Page Versions At Once

Let’s say you have been tweaking the same landing page for weeks, and every save kept adding a version to its history. Check the version list now and there are 40+ entries sitting there, mostly abandoned experiments you'll never revisit.

Purge Versions clears that backlog in one click, keeping only the version that's currently live.

• Head to Page Versions section in your SP Page Builder Settings
• Click Purge Versions when you’re ready to clear out the versions you no longer need.
• A confirmation prompt gives you one final checkpoint before the cleanup begins.
• Confirm, and every saved version is cleared while your current live version remains safely intact.

That’s it. Your old version history is gone, leaving your database lighter and your pages free from unnecessary clutter.

Know Who Has Locked a Page and When

Just like in Joomla, SP Page Builder now lets you see who has locked a page and the exact date and time it was locked. When a page is locked because another user is editing it, simply hover over the lock indicator to view these details.

This helps team members quickly identify who is currently working on the page and when the lock was created, reducing confusion and preventing multiple users from unknowingly working on the same page at the same time.

Make Custom Image Shapes Responsive

Custom Image Shapes are now responsive, giving you greater control over how shaped images appear across different devices in the backend editor.

Previously, a custom image shape could require additional adjustments when designing for different screen sizes. With responsive support, you can adapt the appearance of custom image shapes for different viewports, helping maintain the intended design across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

This gives you more flexibility when creating responsive layouts and makes it easier to ensure that custom-shaped images fit naturally into your design regardless of the screen size.

Add Mailchimp Tags to Your Opt-in Forms

The Opt-in Form addon now supports Mailchimp tags in SP Page Builder Pro. You can assign specific tags to contacts when they submit your opt-in form, based on the form they use or the type of content they sign up for.

For example, you can have separate forms for your newsletter, product updates, and special offers, and assign a different Mailchimp tag to each one. This lets you identify which form a subscriber used and what they signed up for directly in Mailchimp.

You can then use these tags to create subscriber segments and send more relevant email campaigns to each group.

Add Videos to Your Galleries

The Gallery addon gets more versatile with the addition of video support. Pro users can now include video content in their galleries alongside images, allowing them to create richer and more engaging visual sections.

This is particularly useful when you want to showcase different types of content in a single gallery, such as product images and demonstration videos, portfolio images and project videos, or promotional visuals and video content.

Instead of creating a separate section just for videos, you can now bring your visual content together within the Gallery addon.

Keep Track of What's New with Changelog Support

SP Page Builder Pro now includes changelog support, making it easier for users to keep track of changes introduced through updates.

With a changelog, users can quickly see what has been added, improved, or fixed in a release instead of having to discover changes themselves. This provides a clearer overview of the product's ongoing improvements and helps users understand what they can expect when updating to a newer version.

All you have to do is navigate to Extension Manager from your Joomla dashboard, look for SP Page Builder and hover on the version number. You can check the full changelog for that version.

Miscellaneous Improvements

Here are some of the improvements that come bundled up with this latest update.

• Better Form Error Handling: Form Builder error messages now appear right alongside the relevant fields instead of browser pop-ups, making errors easier to spot and fix.
• Reliable Article Styling: Article CSS now gets properly cache-busted in Production Mode, ensuring your latest styling changes are always reflected.
• AVIF Support in Media Manager: AVIF images now appear correctly in Media Manager folders, making them easier to manage alongside your other media files.
• Improved Dynamic Content URLs: SEF URLs now generate correctly for nested dynamic content, keeping your URLs clean and reliable.
• Smoother Article Integration: Resolved CSS issues affecting pages that use Article integration, ensuring styles are applied as expected.
• Accurate Dynamic Media Ratios: Fixed aspect ratio issues with dynamic media when using custom media types, so your media displays with the correct proportions.
